A New York woman was accused of being involved in a hit and run on March 1. The incident occurred in Watertown at about 11:21 p.m.
Authorities received reports of an accident that occurred in Public Square and of two women leaving the scene. When officers responded, they discovered a 1997 Lincoln Continental that had been abandoned near the 100 block of Washington Street. It appeared that the vehicle had struck several bollards before colliding with a street sign. The two women were found near Franklin Street and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that appeared to be minor.
The police eventually identified the woman as a 31-year-old Watertown resident. According to the authorities, she was charged with multiple offenses, including driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident involving a personal injury, aggravated unlicensed operation of the first degree and failing to keep right, among other offenses.
